Tips to use the Finnish sauna A4

Stage 1 - Preparation (10-15 minutes)

Sauna treatments shall begin no sooner than1.5 - 2 hours after the last meal. Before entering the sauna, the body should be washed and thoroughly dried, the swimsuit should be taken off and you  should have a dry and clean towel. People with "cold" feet should heat them first with warm water. During the stay in the sauna do not use any body or face creams, as this reduces the sweating capabilities.

Stage 2 – First heating (8-15 minutes)

Sitting in the sauna starts from the lowest bench and gradually move higher, depending on the comfort. You can lie down on the bench or sit with legs bent and placed on a towel (the towel should not take too much SPAce, in order not to limit the circulation of warm air). In the last 2 - 3 minutes of being in the sauna, it is advisable to adopt a sitting position with legs down to accommodate the cardiovascular system to function properly in a standing position later. Any discomfort which could be indicating intolerance to sauna should be taken seriously and you should leave the sauna if necessary. While in the sauna, do not drink - this is done only later, during the cooling down.

Stage3 – Cooling down (up to 12 minutes)

The higher the temperature prevails in the sauna, the less time we spend in it and the longer we cool the body. This stage is good to start with the cold, but dry bath, eg. going outside (which also oxygenates the body, as the oxygen level in the hot sauna environment rapidly decreases). Then, indulge in a cold wet bath (10-30ºC): take a shower or immerse in water. It is not advisable to use soap. Always cool the body from the feetup - not vice versa (due to the danger of fainting)

This stage is most exhausting for the body.

Stage 4 – Second heating (10-15 minutes)

Enter to the sauna and this time start from a second bench; repeat the steps described above

Stage 5 – Additional treatements

During and after the sauna treatment is not advisable to exercise. After the sauna you should rest for about 15 - 30 minutes. It is recommended to drink mineral water or juices (moderate amounts). After the bath, the sauna it could be beneficial to use treatments such as solarium, full body massage, massage with birch twigs.
